Dante Horoiwa _ INDOCTRINATION Solo Exhibit
DANTÉ HOROIWA was born in 1988 in Sao Paulo, Brazil and currently lives in Sao Paulo.
At the age of fifteen, the young Dante Horoiwa began his career as a commercial illustrator. However, magnetized by the vibrant urban art scene in Sao Paulo, Horoiwa soon began painting the streets. Amidst the powerful murals of one of the most exciting graffiti art scenes in the world, Horoiwa developed a unique style.
Horoiwa’s Japanese heritage is also an important influence. Sao Paulo, in fact, is home to the largest community of Japanese people outside of Japan. Liberdade, the “Japantown” of Sao Paulo, is indeed Dante’s favorite neighborhood. Japanese culture, history and philosophy play an important role in his strong sense of spirituality, which heavily influences his work.
Horoiwa quickly gained recognition for his work around the world in Brazil, Australia, the Netherlands and California. In 2009, Horoiwa participated in Reflexo on Urban Art: Lines, Colors and Forms of Brazilian Urban Art, an urban art exhibition in Rotterdam, Netherlands sponsored by Caramundo.
Exhibition dates: March 5 - April 17, 2010 A.D.
