The San Francisco Art Institute is pleased to present Space Available , its 121st Annual Exhibition organized by the San Francisco Art Institute Artists Committee . One of the oldest continuing exhibitions of contemporary art in the United States, this year's show includes work by Bay Area artists Melanie Barna ,Ann Chamberlain (Resident SFAI Faculty), Amanda Eicher ,Nicole Fein ,Misako Inaoka ,Patricia K. Kelly (MFA, SFAI, 1994), Christian Maychak ,Kathleen Quillian (MFA, SFAI, 2003), E. Marie Robertson ,John Colle Rogers ,Jackie Sumell (Post-Bac, SFAI, 2000), and Claudia Valdes . On view at the Walter and McBean Galleries October 31 - December 13, the exhibition opens with a preview reception on Thursday, October 30, 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Space Available comments on the changing cultures of Bay Area urban space and the utilization of this space by artists as site, source, and concept. Featuring innovative and non-traditional approaches to exhibiting work, the exhibition includes indoor installations in the galleries and outdoor installations site specific to the school's notable architecture, as well as sculpture, photography, painting, drawing, and new media that explore the availability of spaces both material and conceptual, wild and civilized, political and private.
