Art to do this week 7/31 - 8/7

First Friday A.D. 08.01 Peter St. Lawrence - solo exhibit w/ featured music by Skrunchface Projects.

Youth Speaks Benefit 08/02 Our favorite spoken word for youth organization is the benefactor of an art exhibit entitled "Lovely." some great artists and music at Club Six, 66 Sixth Street, SF 7-10pm. The $5 at the door benefits Youth Speaks as does a portion of any artwork sold.

The Work group show includes A.D. favorites Andrew Pommier, Tiffany Bozic, Jeremy Fish and more artists at the Culture Cache on 08.16. Reception is 7-10pm at 1800 Bryant St. @ 17th.

Kathy Eder holds one of her Hidden Agenda cards featuring a picture of President Bush. Her 55 cards show pictures of the president, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and others along with quotes, mostly from journalists, questioning the rationale for the U.S.-led war. The backs of the cards feature a 1983 photograph of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Hussein. get your own deck here.

The San Jose Saturday Art Market is back and more fun than ever! 30 artists' booths, music by Erik Ostrom, Chris Landon, Wendy DeRosa and the Railbirds perform throughout the day (thanks to Dave Ray), an Art Activity tent hosted by local artist Titus Kaphar, and muralists Sean Boyles, David Choe, Valerie Hernandez, Rudolfo Medina, Cynthia Perez and Anabella Pinon paint live along the paseo (next to UA Theater & Starbucks). It's free, it's art, it's your downtown...get into it!!

Saturday: 1 Dart, a map of SF and thirty artists exhibit at New Langton Arts at 1246 Folsom St., SF 8 - 11pm.

MARS puts on a six man exhibit at Recon 1827 Powell St., SF 7pm.

We want to officially welcome Daniel "The Intern" Moskin aboard. He's helping us bring the A.D. archives to life during his stint here this month.
