Do something good for you this holiday weekend.
Tibetan Green Tara Sand Mandala created by monks from the Gyudmed Monastery which is dedicated to the purification of the environment. The gallery is open all weekend. At 2 PM on September 1st, the monks will sweep the mandala up as a way to illustrate the impermanence of all things. The monks will then lead a public procession to the waters of the Napa River in order to disperse the sand mandala and its prayers to the world.

American Splendor is an amazing movie based on the graphic novelist Harvey Pekar. The mundane, ordinary, weirdness of Harvey's life becomes a brilliant mix of the real Harvey and the fictionized version. Now playing at Camera 7.

San Francisco Video Activists' Network presents We Interupt this Empire . . .
The eye-popping, jaw-dropping look at the Bay Area's radical resistance to an illegal war.
The film documents the direct action that shut down the financial district in the weeks following US invasion of Iraq with audio backdrop from the award winning Enemy Combatant Radio and provides a biting critique of the corporate media, the military industrial complex, and the United States' current imperialist drive.

from our friends at Phrenik:
Chris Carpenter's little sister, Heather, that lives in Redding, CA has been missing since early Monday morning and no one has seen her. She didn’t go to work and she hasn’t picked up her car. The police have started to investigate already and the Redding news stations are running a story with her picture as of Monday night. Her picture is above. Please look at it and keep your eyes open for her. Pass this on to EVERYONE you know. We need to do everything we can to get her home.
Chris can be reached at 916.784.7197.
