Pablo Martín x Florencia Fernandez Frank (Argentina)
Tiempo (Time)
collage, acrylic on paper, 16.5" x 58"
$550./ set of 5

Inspiration for their Dual Duel
Pablo invited Florencia Fernandez Frank to work together in this project. They share their life and have a daughter called Elena. They have worked together on several projects such as group exhibitions, books and murals (although it has been a while since they've last collaborated on a project).

Pablo started by painting some of his archetypal figures (that refers to monuments, obelisks, and menhirs). Then Flor decided to give birth to the spirits and energy that lived in this mythical spaces. They placed each sheet of paper as in a path and let the collage weave the monolithic figures. As in a connection to the roots that provides the energy for every grow.

About the Artists:

Pablo Martín
Martín lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His work is focused in the origins of mankind, the primitive and collective soul of the artwork. He explores drawings, paintings, ceramics, objects, graphic and installations. He has participated in many collective and solo exhibitions.

In 2009, along with visual artist and teacher Florencia Fernandez Frank he started Periódica::Grupo de Gestión; a self-managed production/exhibition art collective. In 2011 the National Art Fund awarded them a grant for Group Projects to create an international multidisciplinary exhibition called “Lucha Libre! Miradas al Fabuloso Mundo de la Lucha Libre Mexicana”, that he curated. Again in 2014, the National Art Fund awarded them another Group Projects grant to expand this project, inviting new artists to participate and organize a national tour. Since its inception in 2011, he has been part of Proyecto La Estrella; a social inclusion and integration art project at a slum in the outskirts of Buenos Aires.

In 2015 he received an award at the National Award of Visual Arts: Drawing at the Palais de Glace. During 2015 he made an art trip to Paris, Viena and Berlin where he made exhibitions and murals. He has participated in artist’s residence programs in Mexico City and Oaxaca (México), Tilcara (Jujuy, Argentina) and Salta (Argentina).

Florencia Fernandez Frank
Florencia Fernandez Frank is a visual artist born in Buenos Aires, Argentina (b.1975) with vast teaching experience and a genuine interest in bringing Art to everyday life and non-artistic people. Originally a printmaker, I believe that techniques are tools and choose to test their limits, as I believe that art has the power to transform the reality around us. My work includes graphics, objects, drawings, painting, photography, installations, textiles, participatory actions, collective work, visual poetry illustration and video. I’m particularly interested in encounters, crossroads, mixing.

I live and work in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and have developed projects and activities in different cities within Argentina (Córdoba, Mendoza, Santa Fé, Tucumán, Salta, Tilcara) as well as internationally (México, Spain, Croatia, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, United States).

My work is mainly focused in interdisciplinary and collective work. Since 2003, along with two other artists and teachers (Melina Scumburdis and Violeta Cincioni) we created Grupo Faldas www.grupofaldas.blogspot.com to bring collective and participative work to daily experiences. In 2009, along with visual artist and graphic designer Pablo Martín we started Periódica::Grupo de Gestión www.periodica.com.ar, a self-managed production/exhibition art collective. In 2011 the National Art Fund awarded us a grant for Group Projects to create an international multidisciplinary exhibition called “Lucha Libre! Miradas al Fabuloso Mundo de la Lucha Libre Mexicana”. Again in 2014, the National Art Fund awarded us another Group Projects grant to expand this project, inviting new artists to participate and organize a national tour. Since its inception in 2011, I have been part of Proyecto La Estrella; a social inclusion and integration art project at a slum in the outskirts of Buenos Aires. I participated in artist’s residence programs in Mexico City and Oaxaca (México), Tilcara (Jujuy, Argentina) and Salta (Argentina).

I believe that teaching is a crucial part of the artist role in society. Since 1998 I’ve been teaching Visual Language and Art Projects at the Nacional Art University in Buenos Aires, Argentina (UNA, Universidad Nacional de Arte). I also teach various seminaries and workshops as well as a visual experimentation workshop together with artist Gabriela Messuti, called Obrador Taller.
