Isaac Cordal (Cement Eclipses) _ Belgium

Oblivious to the casual passer-by, a tribe of small cement figures have been appearing in cities across Europe. Left to fend for themselves amongst the chaos of everyday living, they can be found in the most unlikeliest of places.

From paddling in gutters to sitting majestically on top of bus shelters, these concrete sculptures are like little magical gifts to the public that only a few lucky people will have both seen and loved, but so many more will have missed.

(Please note: the items below are the actual sculptures that are available, not the photos.)

Lina Arias _ Columbia

Lina Arias has spent over 8 years exploring stories, text and images and creating a world she has imagined since her childhood through collage, installation, sculpture and painting. Lina presents aesthetics where shapes and vibrant colours interact to create surreal characters and fantastical worlds. These worlds she creates elicit in the viewer states and feelings of melancholy intertwined with fantasy.

The multiple possibilities that have resulted from her engagement with a diverse range of media have brought her to develop projects as an illustrator and art director as well as her participation in Urban Festivals as a wall painter and street artist. Street art presents to Lina a chance to explore the space, its dimensions and her interaction with the street, which she finds an irresistible temptation. She says that as an artist it stimulates her imagination and enables her to develop and enrich her skills in visual art.

Tyler Bewley _ California

Growing up in the Bay Area, I spent much of my youth exploring the expansive and diverse landscapes of rural California. After residing in San Francisco for a number of years, I am constantly made aware of the tension that exists between man, nature and development.

My work is inspired by the state of the natural environment, urban American life, the proliferation of commercial growth, and the human proclivity to develop and dominate our surroundings. My images are creations of fantasy drawn from industrial, natural, political, and local sources. Through works on paper and wood, utilizing watercolor, gouache, acrylic and ink, my art conveys a message of urgency about the state of man and nature, and explores the adaptations and challenges of future generations as they attempt to cope in a changing post-climate world. I use my work as a lens to provide the viewer with a new way in which to think and reflect upon these challenging issues.

JAZ _ Argentina

Like many urban artists, Jaz (Franco Fasoli) began his creative career in the streets as a graffiti writer, and is recognized as one of the first major writers to begin working in the streets of Buenos Aires in the mid 1990’s.

Jaz’s style evolved over the years. He moved away from letter based graffiti and began experimenting with figurative pieces inspired by Argentine culture. His change in direction made his art more accessible to the public, and encouraged by their positive reaction he continued to explore painting and muralism.

Rafal Karcz _ Poland

The work of Rafal Karcz, a contemporary artist from Cracow, can be broadly described as urban stylistic, bordering on the underground and the mass culture.

Working primarily with photography and watercolor, but also incorporating other techniques, Karcz creates a personal, non-realistic world that oscillates between the excesses of the psychedelic era and contemporary pop culture. Karcz submits the existing world to a carefully designed manipulation, creating a new subjective quality that bridges existing reality and the well established ethic of a contemporary audience.

The artist turns his attention toward the world of crowded cafes, smoke-filled bars, and noisy concert halls. The main protagonists are young people who are reaching insatiably toward a sinful world of drugs.

CAKE _ New York

I use anatomy to describe the intricate relationship structures humans have with themselves and others. I frequently take from the pool of human suffering for subject matter and inspiration. When people disconnect from themselves in any way, it will somehow show up in their faces, bodies and gestures. I prefer to make drawings describing those results.

SKOUNT _ The Netherlands

Skount develops a line of work characterized by a mixture of influences and multiple forms of expression. It deals with the creation of a wide range of possibilities: from mural painting to music, canvas based work, performances, video art, sculpture and installations.

The stimulus that projects the totality of his works is “the fundamental necessity of the human being to free his mind, his emotions and sensations that extended over soul that have been nourished by everything that surrounds and stimulates him. To research about the oneiric spectrum in a manner in which the urban environment hardens the individual.

A specific characteristic of his work is his interest in texture which can be explained by his interest in the sensorial and reception in terms of the manner of understanding the creation in other cultures.

A great traveler’s spirit and a great curiosity for other traditions and places inspired him to research different types of creativity and carrying out numerous murals throughout Spain and in a lot of countries that have allowed him to integrate a great diversity of influences within is work.

Her mother claims to have wanted to give birth to her in the mountains where they once lived but the complications of the terrain & the storm the coast was experiencing during this time apparently made that very dangerous. She often wishes that were not the case and finds it easy to imagine coming into the world just a bit closer to the sky.

She traveled a great deal as a child but considers herself a native of California, much like the live oak. With that said ... Paris helped her become a starry eyed child, Florence a drastic youth, homelessness a delinquent teenager, & Boston a student of history. It was her latest trip cross county however (her 20th, in fact) that helped her understand the woman she has become & to truly appreciate Oakland as home. She now resides with her four year old daughter, Georgia, on the banks of the northern California shore line. She suspects you are gorgeous and would be glad to know you.

Gilbert 1 _ France

(Gilbert 1 w/ Iemza)

Coming out of graffiti / street art culture, Gilbert1 is into everything. His creations mix abstract paintings, typographies and inscriptions, photographs, onsite works, sculptures, installations, videos and screenprints.

His work is instinctive, related to a search for movement, and some deformation of space. The format or medium is of minor importance, so long as the entire piece achieves coherence between the primary emotion and the context of creation.

His work often draws inspiration from human or natural tracks. Starting from the hypothesis that a blank wall expresses little, and is void of any real-live experience, his artistic work develops within a logic of life of materials. A material bears the marks of its past, of its own history, the same way marks of their past life and history show on a human being's face, expressing their pains and joys.

Lacey Bryant _ California

Lacey is a San Jose, CA artist who paints weird things. She works in a variety of media, oil and acrylic paints being her favorites. She paints primarily on wood surfaces, often utilizing found wood for the unique textures and history they offer. Her subjects are often dreamlike, inhabiting a realm of strange, nostalgic sweetness with undercurrents of darkness and mystery. Each piece is a bit of the middle of a story for the viewer to interpret in their own way. Contrasting cute with creepy, familiar with odd, Lacey sets out to quietly captivate and unnerve her viewers through the underlying tension of her work.

Gustavo Ortiz _ UK

Gustavo Ortiz, Self Portrait

Influenced by colonial art as well as native indigenous artistic practices, Gustavo Ortiz’s paintings are distinctly Latin American in their hybrid blend of both European and South American heritage. Using collage as his primary medium, Ortiz combines the whimsical elements of Naïve art with the unexpected juxtapositions of Surrealism – creating a wonderful atmosphere of surprise, charm, and simplicity.

DAVe Warnke _ California

I try to recapture the joy and simplicity of my childhood artwork.
I make paintings, posters, stickers, toys, dolls and designs.
that are full of colorful, cute, cheerful cartoon creatures, that inhabit a playful world of imaginary landscapes.

The nature of my artwork is not serious, but i take my work seriously.

I want to share my art with as many people as possible.
I hope my pictures make people smile or giggle.

Derek Weisberg _ New York

I create works of art that are emotional and psychological self-portraits. Through my work I aim to make sense of my life, my experiences, and the times I live. I do not wish to represent like a photo, instead to achieve an innerness.

My goal is to create images, which are accessible and allow the viewer to have an experience which can not be easily articulated, but felt. Simultaneously igniting contemplation, reflection and a lasting relationship with the work. I attempt to express basic human qualities, which are universal and timeless.

At its core the works reflect humanist ideology; searching for truth and universal morality based on the commonality of the human condition. Through thought, feelings become knowledge. To know ones feelings is to know ones self especially through experiencing feelings which are uncomfortable and unfamiliar.

Rimon Guimarães _Brazil

Rimon is a young and talented artist from Curitiba, Brazil. His artwork often shows organic traces, hybrid forms and bold characters in a beautiful and unique style. Rimon’s first interests on art came from comic books/manga and graffiti, but now he also seeks influences on primitive art, Maya culture and botanic illustrators, such as Ferdnad Bauer and Ernest Haeckel. “I’m influenced by everything around me. I’m hyper sensible, that’s why I like to have a great contact with nature. Nature organization is a huge influence”, he says.

Rim’s works can be seen in the streets and in exhibitions, as the solo “Madrugada” (2007), Polinesia gallery and Laboratório Objeto Escarlate, Espaço +SOMA (2010), in Sao Paulo; “Voluvel” (2008) together with Pjota at the Parana’s MAC, in Curitiba; the group shows TRANSFER (2008 and 2010, in Porto Alegre and São Paulo) and Art Trek 7 (2010, Belgium) and earlier this year in two solo exhibitions, Maré Plena, Fita Tape gallery (Porto Alegre) and Descalzo, |/_ gallery (Buenos Aires).

Daryll Peirce _ California

Focused on exploring the connectivity within humanity and its claims of control over social systems, habitat, nature, and future, Peirce's artwork pendulates between absolutes–such as optimistic or pessimistic, satiric or esoteric, pragmatic or spiritual, and bold or poetic. Grotesquely exaggerated human forms, arterial-botanic city organisms, and flowering interconnected urban clusters currently inhabit his psyche and spew into his work. On a more intimate level, his influences instinctively stem
from past and current environs, travel, exploration, skateboarding, surfing, day-dreaming, philosophy, and interacting with all forms of the human animal with a focused lens on the social outcast.

Daryll was born in Reno, Nevada in 1978 and and after receiving his BFA from the Rocky Mountain College of  Art & Design in Denver, Colorado, has since worked incessantly as a painter, designer, illustrator, occasional curator, and creative. His work has been hosted in multiple national and international exhibitions and galleries as well as on external public walls. His work has been in publications such as IdN, The New York Times, Blackbook, Print, Juxtapoz, various city papers and online at The Huffington Post, Wooster Collective, Slam Hype, Fecal Face, Hi-Fructose, Scene360, No New Enemies, Coolhunting, and Modart. Although he moves and travels often he considers San Francisco, California home.

Nuno de Matos (Matox) _ FRANCE

Nuno de Matos, aka Matox, has grown up at Saint-Céré, France, near the alelier of Jean Lurçat. He studied at the University of Toulouse, now he lives at Eus, a famous village in the French Catalonia.

He has drawn since he was a child and has painted since the 80s. His paintings have evolved from body diagrams to expressive abstracts textures. The basic line is the principal structure of his work.

Street art, urban art of the streets of Lisbon and Barcelona, and rupest art of his Quercy's roots have influenced his graffiti work. Bombing art, spray and calligraphy are explored in abstract and expressionist paintings. Tribal Graffiti, Webtagging and laser tagging are for him new ways of expression.

He produces video skinning for live performances (neograffiti, laser painting, projection on walls, graffskining, lightdesign, lightgraffiti), post-graffiti live in mix sessions. He works principally at Eus, but also in Lisbon, Toulouse and Barcelona.

His work has been shown in many projects, principally in the area of Post Graffiti events and multimedia installations all around Europe.

Broken Crow _ Minnesota

Broken Crow is a stencil-based artistic collaboration between Mike Fitzsimmons and John Grider. The two artists began creating and showing art together in 2003. Since then, Broken Crow has attained global recognition for their pioneering use of large-scale stencils in the increasingly established arena of street art.

Through painting, Broken Crow seeks to reintroduce wild animals back into the urban habitats that we humans live in, writing their own mythology as they go. Broken Crow’s aggressive style of painting, combined with their hyper-detailed stencils, is both playful and sophisticated. Their art features various animals and anthropomorphic humanoids in crazy colors and, of course, extraordinarily large size.

The effects of their efforts live somewhere in the vast gray area between street art and public art. As such, Broken Crow has contributed to countless exhibitions. To date, they have painted 113 murals around the world. Their mural art can be seen in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Duluth, Milwaukee, Chicago, Baltimore, Reno, Nashville, Austin, Dallas, Albany, Mexico, New York, Paris, London and Africa.

Jake Watling _ California

Jake Watling spent his early childhood in central Florida, Ohio, and Minnesota. Having lived in many different places, he became interested in documenting his environment. He records his daily ideas and experiences through drawing, painting, photography, and writing. Watling is concerned about showing and experiencing life from different perspectives. He uses the different perspectives to open his eyes and the viewers’ eyes to new ideas about the world that we live in.

He forms his imagery by combining his recorded ideas and experiences with a personal language of signs and symbols. The signs and symbols take many forms, including: architecture, signage, people, animals, etc. His recent work investigates subjects such as fear, money, myth, and religion.

Watling utilizes a graphic style with a bright color palette that is formed by simplifying the given imagery and extracting colors used within the urban environment.

Jake Watling received his B.F.A. from the College of Visual Arts in Minnesota. He has exhibited his artwork throughout the Bay Area and in Chicago, New York, Brooklyn and Berlin, with solo shows in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Palo Alto, and Washington D.C. His work can be found in the Museum of Modern Art collection in New York.

Jake is currently living Oakland, CA.
